3 to plead guilty in Rhode Island extortion cases

PROVIDENCE, R.I. � Three Rhode Island men are set to admit to their roles in an extortion case involving Providence-area strip clubs and a used car salesman.

He also acknowledged being in the New England mafia.

Change-of-plea hearings have been scheduled for Thursday for Raymond "Scarface" Jenkins, Richard Bonafiglia and reputed mob member Alfred "Chippy" Scivola (skee-VOH'-lah).

Scivola and Bonafiglia have agreed to plead guilty to one count each of racketeering conspiracy related to the strip club plot. Jenkins has agreed to plead guilty to one count of extortion conspiracy tied to a scheme to extort a used car salesman. Prosecutors say the salesman paid Jenkins $20,000 last fall.

The most high-profile figure in the case, 84-year-old Luigi "Baby Shacks" Manocchio (muh-NOCK'-ee-oh), pleaded guilty on Wednesday to racketeering conspiracy. He also acknowledged being in the New England mafia.
