Charges laid in strip club beating death

A Penticton, B.C., man has been charged in connection with the beating death of a fellow resident almost a year ago outside a local strip club.


Michael Richard Beauchamp, 40, is charged with second-degree murder for allegedly attacking Terrence Dale Wooley behind Slack Alice's Gentleman's Club in Penticton last April 25.


Police discovered Wooley behind the bar unconscious with severe head injuries. He remained in a coma for a month and died without regaining consciousness May 25.


Beauchamp was arrested without incident last Friday.


He made a brief court appearance Monday and has been remanded into custody.


RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said the arrest comes as solace to Wooley's family.


"The loss of a loved one under criminal circumstances is a terrible ordeal for families to endure and live with," he told ctvbc.ca.


"This painful burden, endured by all victim families of violent crimes, is at the heart of the drive behind all investigators tasked with bringing those responsible for such crimes to justice."
