Deputies catch shooting suspect at strip club

ECTOR COUNTY -- A 19-year-old male wanted on several felony outstanding warrants including attempted murder on a deputy was arrested at an Odessa strip club over the weekend, authorities released Wednesday.

Eddie Licon Palma Jr., wanted in connection for firing shots last year that resulted in one death and injured four others, was taken into custody Friday evening at the Jaguars Club in the 6800 block of Cargo Street after investigators received an anonymous tip that he was a customer there.

Palma had two outstanding warrants when he was found: motion to revoke probation and a motion to adjudicate guilt.

Investigators also charged Palma with attempted capital murder of a police officer, a first-degree felony, after he was arrested.

On January 10th, officers responded to the 6200 block of West 26th regarding a "shots fired" call. One man died as a result and four others were injured, treated and released from Medical Center Hospital.

Two subjects were arrested at that time, Rafael Alvarez Jr., 20, and Sunny Hignojos, 20.

Palma was a considered to be "person of interest" also in that investigation and is believed to have fired a weapon at a deputy that was in pursuit of a vehicle leaving the scene of the shooting on West 26th. The vehicle wrecked out at 57th and Angus when it struck a guy wire. Palma allegedly eluded officers on foot and was part of the ongoing investigation.

Officers had been searching for Palma since that incident and had received several tips of possible whereabouts.

He remained in custody at press time Wednesday evening with a bond of $102,500.00.
