Jetton to appear before grand jury Wednesday
Former Missouri House Speaker Rod Jetton plans to appear before a grand jury Wednesday in Kansas City without an attorney, The Kansas City Star reports.
The FBI is reportedly examining Jetton’s handling of a 2005 bill restricting strip clubs. A 2005 bill would have required admission fees and taxes on adult businesses, require them to close by 10 p.m. and ban full nudity. Jetton assigned it to an “unfriendly committee” he chaired four days after strip club owners gave $35,000 to a fundraising committee with ties to one of his top advisers, according to the Star. Jetton has denied any wrongdoing. Jetton also faces felony assault charges brought by a woman for an incident that allegedly occurred in November in Sikeston, Mo. | |||||
