Town OKs Study On Effects Of Strip Club
Arcadia, NY- On Monday night, Arcadia town board members hired an independent consultant to study the side effects of a strip club in the town.
The action comes on the heels of a fire over the weekend at the site of a proposed club. Investigators are looking into whether it's arson. Dr. Robert Penna will use case studies from other towns and cities with similar experiences. He wouldn't get specific about what he will be looking for, but said it’s anything that could jeopardize quality of life. "It's all hypothetical, extrapolative, I can't tell you what will happen, but I can tell you what is likely to happen," he said. Gary Grant of the town board said that they are conducting a study rather than making any ordinances because they don't think the laws would stand court tests as well as if they did a study. The study could pinpoint other potential spots for a club, but that won't be the focus. If the proposed club is up and running, then later challenged in court with the new study, the owner may not have to tear down right away. He'd likely be given time to re-coop his investment. The study will take about six weeks to complete. | |||||
